How to use an OEM forklift part number
A number is a strong search key, but the location and meaning of that number matter. The same component can carry an OEM number, a supplier code, and a casting mark.
Identify what the number represents
A number printed on packaging or in the catalog is usually more reliable than a raised casting mark. Record spaces, leading zeros, suffixes, and punctuation before normalizing the query.

- Casting, mold, or drawing number
Search variants without losing the original
Try the exact form first, then a normalized form without separators. Keep the original string in the evidence so a technician can see which transformation produced the match.
Verify the replacement relationship
When a catalog lists a new number, check whether the relationship is one-way, conditional, or tied to a serial break. Never infer compatibility only because two numbers occur on the same page.
